Lena had her evaluation for all day kindergarten today. Nothing too hard. I know that she knows her letters and numbers well, but I guess we overlooked some important things, like what a word is (as opposed to a sentence). We've not done well on sounds either. But that's ok, that's why we go to kindergarten. I had to keep myself in check so I wouldn't help her. Like when I knew that she didn't understand the directions, or pointed to the wrong picture. I know that this was to see where she was, so I had to keep quiet. I feel that all day kindergarten will be good for her because she is so busy. And, like her brothers, she likes to rush through things and move on to the next. Not good for retention. We find out in a few weeks if she will be doing whole or half day. 21 days until the boys start school and 28 for Lena.
I am not quite sure what it will be like with only Kaydee at home. Now that we have 2 vehicles (guess I better tell you about that sometime), it will be a good time to do the grocery shopping in the mornings while she's in a good mood. Good moods have been quite rare lately with her. She's quite an interesting child, and I say this as she has her face in a bowl, drinking. Nope, we don't need a dog, we have Kaydee. And she can make quite the mess too. This morning, it involved a diaper, the bathtub, and gagging siblings.
Kaydee's finally saying some words. "Uh-oh" is quite clear and "no". Those are the most important words in a toddler's vocabulary, right? She (and the other 3) had to sit with Sister Lemmon in Sacrament meeting yesterday while I played the organ and Sal was at work. She did well. She stood at the end of the pew and smiled at me. But then Lena headed up to sit with me and Kaydee tried to follow. She didn't like getting stopped and ended up in the foyer. That's ok, I don't think the ward needed her helping me on the organ. She also did really good at the park today with Gramma Haynie. She is my friend Sariah's mom who is here to help with the new baby. She brings the others to the park for lunch and she watched Lyndon, Nolan and Kaydee while Lena and I were at school. She said Kaydee was so good and ate her lunch, and I think she was pleasantly surprised because she saw how whiny and cranky and picky she was all last week.
Sal works his GCU job M-F 8-5, so he's gone all day, and then some nights at his Ikea job. He worked both last Wed and Thurs. Then he worked 11-7 on Sat, 12-7 on Sunday, both today, will work both tomorrow, then he's off to Phoenix again on Wed and comes back on Sat. It will be a long week. But I will have some distraction with a RS presidency meeting and I said I'd try to stop by a bridal shower too. Thankfully it's next door. And we will have the meeting here. The gals are good to accomodate me this way, but it seems like everytime we do this, something happens with the kids. Last time, vomit was involved. I'm not sure I want to do this. Lets hope bodily fluids stay where they are supposed to (including blood), and no one screams. I guess I will break down and let them play video games. That should work for the boys, at least.
In a few weeks, we move from our Main Street chapel to the Stake Center. They will be working on the building while we are all gone. The roof in the cultural hall is collapsing, and whil they were taking a look at it, they decided that it was a good idea for us to vacate in case they found more problems. That's what they've said, at least. Meanwhile, the cultural hall has been chained up for a couple of months now. I guess we couldn't have been in too much danger for them to let us stay that long. Sister Alder, who has been going to this chapel for more than 25 years says they have majorly renovated this building 3 times since it was built in the 50's at a cost of more than $1 million each. So I guess it's kind of a surprise that it's having such problems. I like that buiding, though. When Sal was in the bishopric, I took his key and went exploring once. I didn't realize how many utility and furnace rooms it had. I found an interesting crawlspace through a hole in a wall in a basement, but was too chicken to go through it. It was all dirt. I even went into the creepy boiler room, so I guess I'm not all that chicken.
