I can clearly remember that day in 5th grade when we learned about following directions. It was to teach us to read all the instructions before starting. Something I still need to get a grasp on at times 22 years later. I made a ham and potato dish for dinner last night, only to realize right before I put it in the oven that it was going to have to bake for 2.5 hours. If I'd read the recipe all the way through before I started, I would have started earlier that afternoon.
Instead, I thawed hot dog buns in the microwave, and for dinner tonight, I will just pull that casserole out of the fridge and pop it in the oven. At least I saved myself some trouble.

Ham and potato dish-that sounds yummy. I think we all need lessons on rading instructions all the way through. I do that sometimes too.
I meant reading in the last entry-I can spell I promise I just can't type.
I totally remember that day too. but for me i think it was 6th grade because i was in jr. high already. yeah doesn't stick though. been a few times i didn't read all the wasy through. mostly with computer stuff though, not cooking...... because i like to try new recipes.
