Elena

I went to Elena's Parent-Teacher conference this morning. Like all of my brilliant children, she is doing well. She's reading a grade level above. We are not so great about turning in her reading minutes but they said they can tell she reads a lot at home by the level she is at. She's in the accelerated reading group in her class. As some of you know, she is in the spanish dual immersion program. She has her math class in spanish, and is doing excellent in that area too. They assumed she was one of the kids that didn't grow up speaking spanish but had spanish speaking parents because she is picking it up so fast. Also, she is reading at grade level in espanol even though their teacher has not worked on any more than letters and sounds. Her teachers and I are quite surprised at that. I'm so proud of my little Einstein. One thing she needs to work on is not being so shy about her spanish. She still holds back and they know she knows more than she is letting on.

WOW! What can I say two smart parents = smart kids. Glad she is doing so well. You should get her to teach you some Spanish (j/k).
