On January 13th, Elena turned 8. She couldn't wait to be baptized. She was so excited, she set up the appointment with the bishop herself. And when that appointment was canceled because he was sick in the hospital, she immediately made him a card when she found out. She's such a sweetie.
On the day she finally had her appointment, she told me she was glad she talked to him.
On Friday, Feb. 4th, Grandma Cathi and Grandpa Tom flew up here to be with Lena. They brought a surprise with them. I knew about it, so I took her to the airport with me, and we parked and waited for them in baggage so I could get her reaction on video.
The big surprise was McKayla. Lena was speechless with a smile that could crack her face. It was awesome!
On Saturday, we gathered at the church. It was Stake Baptism day, so 3 other children were baptized too. We all met in the chapel, then took our turn at the font, then split into separate rooms for confirmation. My little Lena looked so small in the font. Brother Anderson, the high councilor over this told me that he had never seen someone go into the water smiling and come back out smiling. The smile never left her face. After she was confirmed, she bore her testimony to us with tears in her eyes. Did I mention she was special?

It was a special weekend for Elena, especially since her cousin was there. Sunday night, they all spent the night at our house because of the early Monday flight. Emotions were high for those two girls. It was a rough Monday for Lena. She gets very attached to family when we/they visit and it's hard for her to say goodbye.
