I had the funnest experience today. I was on the radio. Here's how it happened:
I received a friend request on Facebook from a local radio personality this morning. It stunned me. I hesitated for quite a while on accepting it. I concluded that it had to do with the response I had given on her show's Facebook page. I was right. Soon after accepting that friend request, I received a message from the host that said: "You cracked me up w/your response to my chores question. Would you have a few minutes to talk w/us on the show? If willing, contact our producer with your phone number."
I got a little panicky with that. They wanted to talk to me? I don't really have anything noteworthy to say. Apparantly someone thought so. So after a couple of emails back and forth with the producer, the phone rang. I got queued up with the producer and was put on hold. The hold music was what was playing on the radio, so I listened as the show began. Then it got louder and I knew that I wasn't on hold anymore, the line was open and I was on the show. I listened to the hosts open up and waited for them to introduce me, and we chatted. It was really fun, there were lots of laughs. Of course it helped that it was about the funny thing I had said. It went by pretty quickly and I didn't get to say all the things I wanted, but that's ok. I would totally do it again.
What was the comment that started it all? Well, here was the question: "
"As far as chores, I do 90%, kids do 9.9% and he does 0.1%. He spent the whole day uploading music to his phone, while I took care of everything, so I'm not going to say how I feel it should be right now."
The irony is that he started doing the dishes a couple of hours later (and it was brought up in the interview). He didn't know that I had written that, and I didn't say anything to him about helping me all day. This was all on his own. He also gave me a footrub that night. I was afraid of what he would think if he knew I did that interview, so I didn't forewarn him (but I did let my sisters know and a few friends). But I had so much fun that I called him afterwards and told him and we had a good chuckle over it. He's a good man. I know he works hard, but as a stay-at-home working mom, sometimes I just can't help but get upset about the unbalance. I did mention to him not too long ago my concerns about the kids not seeing him help out in the chores department. He has started helping out more, and did quite a bit yesterday that went unnoticed. And there are things that only he can do, like giving a sick Lena a blessing at 3am.
I love my Sal.
Here's a link to the show. I was on during the first 10 minutes (after the news): The Browser
